Bennet After Venice.

"Landon...Wha...What are you doing here?" Klemey looked at him. He was leaning against his mo-ped. "You may not believe this but I had just stopped to grab a smoothie across the street and I saw all of the cops and stuff. Then outta nowhere there you are..." He looked past her to Gubler. "With him..." His voice dropped a little. Klemey just stood blinking at him. Was he really there just a few feet away from her? "Need a lift?" Landon asked. Just then a cab pulled up by him, which was perfect a ride home for Gubler. Could this night have any better of a turn around? Klemey thought to herself. "Ummm..." She wanted to say yes, but something held her back. She looked at Gubler. His eyes met hers. "Hey, you go ahead now...I can take care of myself from here..." He gave her a weak, but sure smile. She nodded then stepped toward Landon. "Are you sure?" She looked back at the man who once held her entire heart. "Yes, bab..." He paused momentarily, "Yes, Klemey..." He walked up to Landon and patted his shoulder. Klemey felt as if this was somehow a sign of closure. That the twisted past of her and Gubler was being put behind them. That although they were no longer lovers at least they now were no longer enemies either. They had found their balance and would remain friends. She knew he had a permanent place in her life and was glad they had worked through it. "Listen," He was saying to Landon, "I know I may not know you, but she is a very special girl. You take care of her don't do what I did..." He gave him a look then went to the cab, opening the door slowly.

Klemey got on the mo-ped clipping the helmet straps into place and finally wrapping her arms around Landon's waist. His familiar scent of coffee came toward her face. Being so close to him made her realize just how much she had missed him, but as they drove off she had to fight a little urge that came from deep within her heart to look back.

...To Be Continued...
