August 24th..

is going to be the very first day I vote in my life.

And there are some serious issues being voted on.

So I'm mainly torn on Number 2.

I see signs all over the roads that say both VOTE YES ON 2 and VOTE NO ON 2

As of right now, the law says its OKAY for a girl under the age of 18 to have an abortion without her parents' notice. (Not permission, but just them KNOWING what she is doing.)

Now number 2 is to CHANGE this law and make it REQUIRED for the parents to know about abortions.

Scenario 1:

You've got a promiscuous 16 year old girl who sleeps with a lot of guys and one day she finds herself pregnant. (For all we know, she could've been in this situation before and had an abortion under the current law)

My opinion: I feel that girls who act like this shouldn't be able to get away with everything. I feel that her parents have a right to know what she's been doing and the outcome of that. After all, she is still a minor.

Scenario 2:

You've got a 16 year old girl in a small village or town who gets raped. She doesn't feel that she should have to go through this pregnancy, but KNOWS her parents do NOT approve of abortions for any reason. If she gets an abortion under the current law, she will be protected and safe.

My opinion: I think this girl has a choice of her pregnancy at such a young age, but if her parents found out about her decision to get an abortion and they are extremely upset, they could kick her out of the house or even harm her.

So as of right, I am going to leave this one blank because I have opinions for each answer.
